You have to download the application onto your mobile end device before you can use the BMW Connected App in the vehicle. In the case of an Apple iPhone, please use the Apple App Store for this purpose, in the case of an Android phone download is via the Google Play Store.
Your vehicle must be telematics-enabled and it must be allocated to your customer account in the ConnectedDrive Portal. All important telematics data that were transferred to and stored on a BMW server from this time onwards are accessible to BMW CarData.
BMW ConnectedDrive services are all booked for a specific vehicle. When a vehicle changes hands, its services can be used by the new owner for the remaining service life. You will have to rebook the services for your new vehicle.
All BMW models fitted with the option code 6AK ("ConnectedDrive Services") or 6NR ("Apps") and the Professional navigation system can draw on all functions in conjunction with a smartphone and the BMW Connected App, which is available free of charge from the Apple Store or Google Store. In addition, you should also have a suitable mobile phone contract. Some of the BMW Connected applications make intensive use of broadband data services (e.g. Web radio).
The BMW Connected application functions are located under the menu command "BMW Apps". In order for the functions to be displayed, your smartphone must be connected with your BMW, and the BMW Connected application must be running. If you are using an Android smartphone, ensure that the [accessory mode] under [ConnectedDrive] [BMW Apps] [connection assistant] has been activated after connecting the smartphone with the vehicle. Provided that an upcoming meeting is saved in the BMW Connected App, the vehicle will show a welcome screen including navgation to destination and the option of calling or messaging participants on the estimated time of arrival.
Not all the attributes listed are available for all vehicles. For example, the sun roof status is only relevant for your vehicle if it has a sun roof. If this is not the case, the corresponding attribute for your vehicle is set to the value NOT AVAILABLE.
The service quality of the online applications from BMW Connected is substantially influenced by the coverage of the mobile telephone networks or the current reception quality. In many cases, poor local reception is indicated by low signal strength. Even if your smartphone displays a good signal strength, this does not necessarily mean that the service quality will also be good. Service quality frequently depends on other network-specific parameters.
The planned routes are saved in your BMW Online profile and can be imported into the vehicle. Follow these instructions to do so: 1. Select "Navigation" in the main menu. From the map view push the iDrive Controller to the left twice to get to the navigation menu. 2. In the navigation menu select "Saved trips" and "Import trips". 3. You will then be connected with "BMW Online" and can select the desired route under "My routes". 4. The route will now be imported into your BMW and can be started via the navigation menu. Imported routes are saved in your BMW.
For iOS and Android users this can be done by using the BMW Connected app on your phone and connecting your smartphone to the car. Then you can import your meetings and appointments in the app. Then you`ll receive time to leave notifications.
You can use personalized services in your BMW by logging in to the BMW ConnectedDrive Portal with your access data in your vehicle. In order to do so select the menu point "ConnectedDrive" in the main menu and then select "BMW Online". Now press the "Option" button on your iDrive Controller. Then select the menu point "Login". Here, first insert your e-mail address and confirm with "OK". Following this enter your password and again confirm with "OK". We recommend to enable "Auto-login" by checking the box next to it. Please note however, that this will enable every vehicle user to access your personal data (e-mail, address book, etc.).
In case you have already created a driver profile in your vehicle, which is however not active yet - meaning you are driving in "guest" mode - you must first activate the profile. Following this return to the ConnectedDrive Store and continue with the purchase.
